Police have arrested a suspected burglar following the theft of a car after a police pursuit.
Officers were initially alerted that a BMW was being driven by a possible drink-driver in the Mansfield area and began following the vehicle in the early hours of Sunday (25 October).
A pursuing police car was rammed by the vehicle and a member of the public’s car was also damaged as the BMW reached speeds of almost 100mph after failing to stop.
The offending car was found abandoned outside a pub in Nottingham Road, Ravenshead.
It was then reported that a Range Rover had been stolen following a home break-in a short distance away.
Investigations revealed the Range Rover had been driven away from Ravenshead in the direction of Chesterfield, Derbyshire, where it was later found dumped on a country road.
Further inquiries led to the arrest of a man later that day and officers are also working to track down other people believed to be involved.
A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary, failing to stop and dangerous driving. He has been bailed with strict conditions while investigations continue.
Detective Inspector James Oakton, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“A number of serious offences were committed following the initial call and we strongly believe them to be linked.
“Detectives have worked efficiently to identify one suspect who has been arrested and interviewed.
“These investigations are ongoing and we’d like to hear from anyone with information or relevant dashcam, CCTV or doorbell footage.”
Anyone who can assist should call 101, quoting incident 35 of 25 October 2026, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
