Response officers arrested a suspect after a cashpoint was torn from a wall in broad daylight.
After receiving a report of a man attempting to rip out a cash machine in Mansfield Road, St Ann’s, shortly before 10.20 am, on Monday (15 May) officers were quick to get to the scene and arrest a man in the act.
Met with parts of the cash machine covering the floor and a metal bar being used to destroy the machine and gain access to money, officers quickly arrested a man on suspicion of criminal damage to property.
A 37-year-old suspect remains in custody while inquiries continue.
Sergeant Declan Bourne, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Our response officers were with a suspect around six minutes after we first received the call and were quick to arrest a man on suspicion of criminal damage.
“This act was carried out in the middle of the morning in broad daylight and shows a complete disregard for not only other people’s property but also the law.
“Our investigation is still ongoing but a man remains in custody while officers are continuing to investigate.
“We would ask anyone who may have been in the area at the time, has any mobile phone or dashcam footage to come forward and get in touch either by calling 101, quoting incident number 166 of 15 May 2023, or by contacting Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
