Man charged after allegedly spitting at emergency worker

A man has been charged after he reportedly spat in the face of a Detention Officer whilst in custody after allegedly threatening two Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs).

The charges relate to an incident on Monday morning in Hucklow Court in Mansfield where two PCSOs was approached by a man, as they were attending a separate incident.

The officers were reportedly threatened. A man was then arrested for a public order offence. The man has then reportedly spat directly at a Detention Officer whilst in custody.

Police Sergeant Carl Holland is leading the investigation. He said: “This kind of disgusting behaviour will not be tolerated in any shape or form and especially not now in the current climate.

“It’s a truly despicable thing to put someone at risk, or to leave them anxious that they may be at risk, of catching Covid-19. We will have no hesitation in bringing action against anyone engaging in this kind of behaviour.”
