Detective Sergeant Lee Cattell, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: “As a force we take knife crime incredibly seriously and will always look to take appropriate action against individuals who are believed to have committed offences.

“Just one knife offence can have devastating impacts on so many people which is why Nottinghamshire Police continues to work tirelessly all year round, working closely with its partners, to prevent and tackle knife crime, reduce violence and take positive action to keep our communities safe.”

Nottinghamshire Police’s relentless proactive work to combat knife crime involves bringing together all aspects of education, engagement and enforcement.

The force’s dedicated knife crime teams are continuing to make inroads by removing dangerous weapons from the streets, tackling those suspected to be involved in violence and crime and keeping people safe.

Specialist schools and early intervention officers will also be continuing their work by engaging and working with children, encouraging young people to live positive knife-free lives.

Another key driver helping to steer young people away from knife crime and violence is Nottinghamshire’s Violence Reduction Unit which continues to work with vulnerable individuals and families to help understand the root causes of violent crime, make a difference to young lives and put them on the road to a safer and more positive future.
