A man who carried an axe has been jailed for more than a year and a half.
Troy Trevethick, was found to be in breach of bail conditions when officers were called to a report of people sleeping rough in Cranmer Street in St Ann’s, Nottingham on 29 July.
He was there with a woman who he had bail conditions not to contact. He was also required to live and sleep at one of two addresses in the city, neither of which he was living at. He had further failed to present himself at a police station on 20 July, which was the third breach of his conditions.
The 46-year-old was arrested for breaching his bail conditions and taken to custody, where a search of his belongings uncovered a small axe in a bag he had been carrying.
Trevethick, from the Arboretum area of Nottingham, was sentenced to 78 weeks in prison at Nottingham Crown Court yesterday (7 October) after pleading guilty to possession of an offensive weapon and three counts of breaching court bail.
Police Sergeant Lisa Jones, who investigated the incident, said: “Carrying a weapon is completely unacceptable and can have tragic consequences, which is why it is such a serious offence.
“Trevethick was given conditions by the court which he chose to breach and now he is facing the consequences of his actions.
“I am pleased that we have been able to put him before the courts and show the potentially serious effects of carrying a weapon.”
