A man has faced the courts after he stole more than £7,500 during a pub break-in.
Stephen Walker was living above The Peacock, on Southchurch Drive, Clifton, when he broke in and gained access to a safe.
CCTV captured the 54-year-old helping himself to approximately £7,650 in cash at 11:25 pm on 25 May 2024.
The burglar went on to plead not guilty to one count of burglary.
However, a jury, armed with undeniable evidence placing him at the scene of the crime, disagreed and found him guilty on 4 February 2026.
Walker, of Langdown Close, Bulwell, was sentenced to 12 months in prison, suspended for two years, when he appeared at Nottingham Crown Court for sentencing on Friday (10 April).
He is required to pay £5,000 in compensation and carry out 150 hours of unpaid work.
PC Kerry Sansom, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“Burglary offences can cause considerable cost and inconvenience to local businesses and are also extremely upsetting for victims.
“That is why the force takes burglary incredibly seriously and will continue to take robust action against burglars who target homes and businesses for their own selfish gains.
“I hope Walker takes this chance to reflect on his behaviour.”
