A man has been charged following a burglary in which a pensioner was assaulted.
An 80-year-old man was pushed to the floor, kicked and threatened with a hammer by a masked man who broke into his home in Brandon Close, Balderton.
It is unclear if anything was stolen during the incident, which happened shortly after 7.45 pm on 28 January.
Following inquiries, a suspect was arrested on Sunday (4 February).
A 22-year-old man from Newark-on-Trent, has been charged with burglary (theft / attempted theft with violence).
The suspect was remanded into custody and is next due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates on 6 February.
Detective Inspector Luke Todd, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“This incident was extremely distressing for the victim and we are determined to secure justice for him.
“Following some good work by detectives, response units and neighbourhood officers, we have managed to charge a suspect.
“Violent crime and burglary will not be tolerated by Nottinghamshire Police and we will always do everything in our power to investigate incidents reported to us.”
