A suspect has been arrested after a large cannabis farm was discovered hidden inside an industrial premises.
Officers were called to the building in Northern Road, Newark, shortly after 11pm on Thursday 9 April after the discovery was made by a member of the public.
Inside, they found around 500 plants spread across multiple rooms, along with an array of heating, lighting, and filtration equipment, which will now be destroyed.
A 40-year-old man found inside the building was arrested on suspicion of cultivating and supplying cannabis.
Sergeant James Brown, of Newark neighbourhood policing team, said:
“The illicit production of cannabis is very often linked to violent and exploitative criminal gangs, both home and abroad, who think little of exploiting vulnerable people or using extreme violence to protect their investments.
“It also poses considerable dangers to neighbouring properties, not only from fire but from associated criminality.
“That’s why we take reports of this nature so seriously and why we are working so hard to target the people responsible.”
Anyone with additional information about this incident is asked to call 101, quoting incident 728 of 9 April 2026.
