A man was arrested after a member of the public was assaulted.
Police were called to the Victoria Centre in Nottingham following a report of a disturbance shortly before 9 am yesterday (Friday 14 October).
Officers arrived to find a suspect pinned to the floor by security staff.
The 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and being drunk and disorderly in a public place.
Once in custody, he was further arrested for kicking a police officer and spitting at a second constable.
Detective Inspector Kayne Rukas, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was an unpleasant incident and I would like to thank the security team at the Victoria Centre who did well to safely detain the suspect.
“Officers were quickly on the scene and took the man into custody, where two police officers were assaulted.
“Any assaults on members of the public or emergency workers are treated very seriously and, as we have repeatedly shown, we will always take robust action against anyone involved in this sort of behaviour.”
