Nottinghamshire Police is appealing for the public’s help after a motorcyclist died following a collision in Mansfield.
Emergency services were called to the scene of the crash which happened in Lindhurst Lane, at the junction with Berry Hill Lane, at around 2.50pm today. It involved a motorbike and a van.
The motorcyclist, a 24-year-old man, was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital where he died at 8.24pm.
His family are being supported by specially-trained officers.
Nottinghamshire Police closed the road following the incident. Both vehicles have since been recovered and the road has now reopened.
No arrests have been made.
Investigator Emma Temple, from Nottinghamshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Our thoughts and sympathies are with the victim’s family and friends at this difficult time.
“We are working hard to establish the circumstances surrounding the collision and we are appealing to anyone who was travelling inthe area around the time of the crash to contact us with any information that they think could help our investigation.
“We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who may have captured either of the vehicles involved on dashcam footage.
“Any information – no matter how small it may seem – could help us to better understand the circumstances around this tragic case.”
Anyone with any information about the collision or the vehicles involved is asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101 as soon as possible, quoting incident number 426 of 6 September 2020.
