An MP has vowed to fight for faster and more frequent rail services to help boost connections between Lincoln, Newark and Nottingham.
Lincoln MP Hamish Falconer (Labour) said he wants to see more improvements to the the East Midlands Railway (EMR) route, which also stops at Hykeham, Swinderby, Collingham and Newark Castle.
A new timetable introduced earlier this year has ensured there are now two direct trains between Lincoln and Nottingham – but the MP wants to build on that.
Mr Falconer added: “I am really keen to see further upgrades on that route.
“They, as I say, made important steps in relation to the timetables but there’s some questions about the track infrastructure itself – which I think still needs to be improved – and I’ve talked to Network Rail about that as well.”
The Lincoln MP went on to say that as well as a faster EMR service from Lincoln through to Newark and Nottingham, he would also like to see an improved LNER service to London.

He said: “I’d love more services as well as a faster route. I’d like to see an increase in the number of direct services to London – as well as more services to Nottingham in the way that we’ve discussed.”
Mr Falconer was elected as the Labour MP for Lincoln in July 2024. He also serves as parliamentary under-secretary for the Middle East, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
The Government minister said that it has been “such an honour” and has been “such an important job” for him to represent people in the city over the last two years.
Mr Falconer said he was pleased to have helped stop plans for RAF Scampton, near Lincoln, to be turned into an asylum processing centre.
