Detectives conducting a murder investigation have charged two suspects.
Officers made a number of arrests after discovering the body of a woman in Main Street, Milton at 3.12am on Friday morning (20 March).
Donatas Noreika, aged 37, of Main Street, Milton, and Arturas Karvelis, aged 42, of Broad Street, Parkgate, Rotherham – who is also known within the community as Arturas Bockus – have been charged with conspiring to prevent the lawful and decent burial of a body.
Both men are due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court today (Monday 23 March).
A 64-year-old man and 60-year-old woman who were also arrested have since been released without charge.
The victim can today be named as 32-year-old Orinta Narbutaite, who lived in Rotherham.
Orinta’s family have been informed and have asked for privacy at this time. They are being supported by specially-trained officers.
In line with standard practice, Nottinghamshire Police are making a referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) due to past involvement with Orinta.
Detective Inspector Matt Scott, who is leading the investigation, said:
“Our thoughts are with Orinta’s loved ones at this incredibly difficult time.
“Police and crime scene officers have been working tirelessly to establish the circumstances of this tragic incident.
“Specially-trained officers are continuing to support Orinta’s family and keep them updated as the investigation progresses.
“We have now charged two suspects as part of our investigation but our inquiries are still ongoing, so we’d ask anyone who has any information but hasn’t shared it with us yet to please do so immediately.”
