New electric vehicle charging hubs now available in West Bridgford

Electric vehicle (EV) owners can now top up on the go even more conveniently in Rushcliffe thanks to a further electric charging hub newly installed at Gresham Sports Park in West Bridgford.

The BP Pulse-enabled hubs can now see EV and hybrid users quickly charge their vehicles up to 80% in just 30 minutes at the Rushcliffe Borough Council-managed sport facility.

It is benefiting local sports clubs and individuals who use the facilities week in week out with another convenient place to charge their vehicles whilst participating in leisure and sport.

West Bridgford Colts FC who use the site as one of their training bases are among those who have given the thumbs up to the installations as club officials, players and parents and guardians of children playing sports at the site can charge up on the go.

It’s the latest installation of EV charging points from the Council as part of its Carbon Management Plan to support sustainable transport choices.

The authority has been able to provide the site as part of the Transforming Cities Fund in partnership with Nottingham City Council and is another convenient and reliable facility for EV drivers.

It adds to the Council’s current network of sites available in Gamston, Keyworth, Radcliffe on Trent, Cotgrave and Rushcliffe Arena in West Bridgford.

All users can access the facility via the contactless option and BP Pulse members can also access the facility with their RIFID card or via the app.

All the information you need to top up at any of the sites is now at www.rushcliffe.gov.uk/ev

The Council’s Portfolio Holder for Communities and Climate Change Cllr Abby Brennan said:

“The charging point is another part of our local infrastructure to encourage more carbon clever travel in Rushcliffe as we continue on our journey as an organisation to be carbon-neutral by 2030.

“We are committed to continuing to install new electric vehicle charging points across the Borough and we know this popular site for clubs and teams and their spectators is a perfect place to encourage even greener motoring.

“We hope that this will further encourage the use of electric or hybrid vehicles, as the infrastructure to support them becomes available to residents and visitors to the Borough.”

Chairman of West Bridgford Colts Peter Stansbury said: “West Bridgford Colts are delighted to see the installation of the electric car chargers at the Gresham Park training ground.

“Rushcliffe Borough Council have provided two excellent ATP training pitches and the electric charge points are a great addition to the facility.

“Many of our coaches and parents use the charge points when they come to coach or watch the teams and have commented how convenient they are.”
