New homes on fire-damaged pub site set for 2026

A number of family homes and apartments that are being built on the site of a popular pub ravaged by fire are on track to be finished by summer next year.

Fire destroyed the Bakersfield pub in Oakdale Road in 2024, rendering it structurally unsafe.

Nottinghamshire Police and the fire service concluded the fire had been the result of an arson attack.

At the time of the fire, plans had been lodged to demolish the pub and build family homes and a number of apartments on the site.

The plans were approved by Nottingham City Council following the fire, and the building was quickly demolished, amid concerns it could collapse in bad weather.

Hockley Developments Ltd, which is behind the scheme, has now confirmed the homes and apartments should be built between May and June next year.

A spokesperson said: “Hockley Developments are developing 13 family homes – a mix of three to five-bedroom houses, and apartments – on Oakdale Road; with completion on track for May to June 2026.

“We currently have a waiting list of interested buyers, and a showhouse will be available for interested parties to view in early February 2026.
“Sales and viewings will be carried out by the appointed Agents, William H Brown – anyone interested should contact their Upper Parliament branch on 01159 587766.”

The pub was built in the early 1960s and originally opened as the Tally Ho in 1962.

It first closed in April 2023.

The apartments will be used for assisted living purposes, according to the plans.
