Nottinghamshire hospitals Covid admissions are equivalent of one ward each day, say Public Health bosses

In a Nottinghamshire coronavirus press briefing this afternoon, Public Health Director for Nottingham Jonathan Gribbin discussed admissions at Nottingham Hospitals.

Mr Gribbin said in answer to questions from the media:

‘In terms of hospital admissions at the moment, for Nottingham and Notts ICS ( Integrated Care System ) two days ago there were 361 people in hospital with coronavirus – yesterday there were 413 people in hospital, this is 40% above the numbers during the ‘Wave One’ peak.

‘This represents almost an entire ward of patients suffering with Coronavirus admitted each day at current figures.’

Jonathan added that on the 28 October 49 patients were admitted on that one day.

He said that this could go on to happen at Sherwood Forest NHS Foundation Trust and at Bassetlaw too.

Talking about the Tier 3 restrictions announced yesterday, Mr Gribbin said that the whole county had been included in the package of new measures drawn up from SAGE evidence.

More soon from the briefing…
