Amanda Sullivan, accountable officer for Nottingham and Nottinghamshire CCG gave this update at today’s Covid Media Briefing.
Amanda Sullivan said:
‘Our hospitals are under increasing pressure – this is caused by Covid and increased absences, as well as other areas like the expected Winter pressures.
‘On 4 January 2022 we had 443 patients in hospital with Covid – this is higher than both the April and November 2020 peaks, and about the same as January 2021 – and the numbers continue to increase.
‘In the week to 2 January 2022 there 362 admissions ( up from 213 the previous week ) were 25 deaths with Covid in our hospitals.’
‘This is still a very serious situation.
She added that at this stage a critical incident has not been declared at NUH but the situation is being closely monitored.
On vaccinations Amanda said that ‘84% of over-18s are double vaccinated and a further 60% have been boosted.
