Police are appealing for witnesses after a 37-year-old man was left with serious head injuries following an assault at the junction of Clumber Street and Upper Parliament Street.
The incident happened just before 4.30am on Sunday 21 May.
Officers attended to reports of a fight with two men running from the scene.
A 37-year-old man had a large cut to his head and was unresponsive but breathing. He had been allegedly punched and kicked.
Officers are viewing CCTV footage of the incident and a number of lines of inquiry are currently underway.
Police Investigation Officer Russell Oliver said:
“This was a nasty assault and left the victim with serious head injuries.
“We are determined to catch those responsible and working hard to track down the offenders through our CCTV inquiries.
“We are aware that it happened on a busy street with lots of members of the public around after enjoying a night out in the city.
“We are also aware that some members of the public filmed the incident on their mobile phones and we would ask them to come forward with the footage as it would help with our investigation.
“Anyone with information is also asked to get in touch including the two men that ran from the scene.”
