The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has rated Wilford View Care Home in Nottingham as outstanding following an inspection in January.
The home, run by Wilford View Ltd, supports adults of all ages living with nursing needs, including people living with dementia. There were 71 people living there at the time of the visit.
The overall rating of the home is outstanding, an improvement from the previous rating of requires improvement. The effectiveness and responsiveness of the service were found to have improved from good to outstanding, and the level of care provided has improved from requires improvement to outstanding. The safety and leadership of the service have improved from requires improvement to good.
Steven Paisley, CQC Deputy Director of Operations in the Midlands, said:
“During our inspection, we were very impressed with the improvements Wilford View Care Home had made following our feedback at their last inspection. They were now providing high-quality care, ensuring people living in the home had a positive experience and a culture that made them feel safe and fully involved in their care and support planning.
“People told us that staff were knowledgeable and supported their individual needs. We saw that staff had a good understanding of the people in their care, helping them manage potential risks. The home also provided opportunities for trips and activities and listened to people’s interests and needs.
“Leaders investigated incidents to identify improvements and shared learning with the wider team. This reduced the likelihood of incidents, such as falls, happening again, helping to keep people safe.
“What stood out for us was that the leadership team had created a positive culture where people living in the home and staff could raise and discuss any concerns. Staff promoted people’s independence, and people told us that nothing was too much trouble. They felt comfortable speaking to staff thanks to the strong relationships they had built.
“All of the staff at Wilford View should be very proud of the findings of our report. Other care providers should look to this report to see what they can learn.”
