Nottinghamshire traffic and travel updates: Friday 21 August

It is a relatively settled start on Nottinghamshire’s main roads and motorways this morning, with no major new incident or full closure identified in the early checks on the M1, A1, A46 or A52.

The main disruption is from continuing roadworks and bus diversions, while rail passengers should note both the reduced EMR timetable and significant engineering works this weekend.

Rail – reduced timetable continues

Buses – Bingham and Nuthall Road

Several Nottingham City Transport service updates remain relevant today.

In Bingham, Long Acre works are scheduled between 07:30 and 18:00 today, meaning Pathfinder 90 cannot serve Bingham Market Place while the closure is in force. Passengers are directed to the White Lion stops. Today is the final scheduled day of these works.

Nuthall Road resurfacing continues on weekdays until 1 September. Between 07:30 and 16:00, Turquoise 78 and 79 towards Strelley and Bulwell divert via Aspley Lane and Western Boulevard. City-bound services operate normally.

Other continuing roadworks around Nottingham include the weekday closures on Edwards Lane, affecting services 40A, 87, 88, 89 and 89A.

Major East Bridgford closure starts Monday

One of the most significant Nottinghamshire road changes of the summer begins on Monday 24 August.

Main construction starts at the A6097/Kirk Hill junction at East Bridgford, with earthworks, utility diversions and changes to the existing junction infrastructure.

The works bring a 12-month closure of Kirk Hill and East Bridgford Road, with knock-on changes to local traffic and buses. The Rushcliffe Villager will be rerouted, with Shelford and Gunthorpe no longer served by that route during the closure and additional Nottsbus 747 journeys being provided.
