‘Despite this momentum, a small group of Peers—fewer than 1% of the House of Lords—are currently attempting to delay and block the Assisted Dying Bill. Volunteers described the attempts as “undemocratic,” noting that 75% of the public support assisted dying and that efforts to stall the Bill “go against the will of both the electorate and the elected House of Commons.”

‘Dignity in Dying volunteers in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire are urging members of the public who feel strongly about safeguarding choice at the end of life to email members of the House of Lords today and express concern at the disregard being shown for public opinion and the primacy of the Commons.’
