Nottinghamshire weather for Tuesday 13 January

Tuesday will be mild but increasingly unsettled, with cloud thickening through the morning and a band of rain pushing through around the middle of the day before conditions slowly improve later on.

Early morning
The day will start largely dry and mild, with broken cloud and temperatures around 7°C at dawn. Winds will be light to moderate from the south to south-south-west at around 7 mph, keeping conditions relatively comfortable for the time of year. There is only a small chance of a light shower early on, and many places will remain dry through the early morning hours.

Midday
Through the late morning and into midday, cloud will thicken and the risk of rain will increase markedly. By late morning, showers are expected to become more widespread, with the chance of precipitation rising to around 70 to 80 per cent. Temperatures will climb to around 9°C, while winds will remain southerly at around 8 mph. Rain may be persistent for a time around midday, leading to damp conditions and reduced visibility.

Afternoon
The afternoon will remain unsettled, with spells of rain continuing, particularly in the early to mid-afternoon. Temperatures will hold steady at around 9°C, making it another mild January day. Winds will gradually veer south-westerly at around 7 to 8 mph. As the afternoon progresses, rainfall should become lighter and more intermittent, with some drier intervals developing later on.

Evening
During the evening, showers will ease further and become increasingly isolated. Skies will remain mostly cloudy, but there will be longer dry spells developing. Temperatures will gradually fall from around 7°C to 5°C by late evening. Winds will turn west to west-north-west at around 5 to 6 mph, and conditions will feel cooler but calmer. Overall, it will be a damp start to the evening before gradually settling overnight.
