Early morning
The day will start cold and mostly cloudy, with temperatures around -2°C through the early hours. Although largely dry, there will be plenty of low cloud, limiting any sunshine at first. Feels-like temperatures will be closer to -5°C due to a light west-south-westerly breeze of around 5 mph. There is only a very small chance of any precipitation early on, but some frost may linger on untreated surfaces at first.
Midday
By late morning into midday, brighter spells will develop with breaks in the cloud. Temperatures will steadily rise, reaching around 1°C by late morning and 2°C by midday. Winds will turn more south-westerly and strengthen slightly to around 6 to 7 mph. Despite the milder air arriving, it will still feel cool, with apparent temperatures remaining close to -2°C to -3°C.
Afternoon
The afternoon will feel noticeably less cold than recent days. Temperatures are expected to peak at around 3°C during the early to mid-afternoon. Skies will be partly cloudy with occasional brighter spells, though cloud will gradually thicken later in the afternoon. Winds will be from the south-west at around 7 mph. Feels-like temperatures will hover close to freezing, making it more comfortable than previous days but still cool for the time of year.
Evening
Conditions will turn increasingly unsettled during the evening. Cloud will thicken quickly, with rain becoming increasingly likely from early evening onwards. By mid to late evening, the chance of rain will rise to around 80 to 90 per cent, with spells of rain becoming more persistent. Temperatures will hold at around 2°C to 3°C, preventing any frost from forming. Winds will strengthen from the south to south-south-west at 10 to 12 mph, with gusts of up to 26 mph, giving a damp and breezy end to the day.
