Early morning
Friday starts clear and cold from around 6am, with temperatures near 3C and feeling closer to 1C in a light south-south-westerly breeze. Cloud cover is patchy, and the chance of rain is very low at under five per cent through much of the morning. Visibility remains very good, and humidity stays high at around 92 per cent, giving a crisp and chilly feel. By 8am and 9am, temperatures lift just slightly to 3C and 4C with some early bright intervals breaking through.
Midday
From late morning into midday, conditions improve further with sunnier spells developing. Temperatures rise to 5C or 6C by 11am and noon, feeling a little milder in a slightly stronger southerly breeze of 6 to 8mph. There remains virtually no chance of rain at this stage, and visibility is very good.
Afternoon
The early afternoon continues largely dry with temperatures holding around 7C and feeling close to 4C. Winds strengthen gradually from the south-south-east, reaching 10 to 12mph by mid-afternoon. Cloud cover thickens noticeably after 2pm and by 3pm the chance of showers increases to around 40 per cent. This marks the transition towards a much more unsettled spell.
Evening
From 4pm onwards conditions deteriorate sharply. Rain becomes widespread and long-lasting, with confidence of rainfall at or above 95 per cent from 5pm through to at least 10pm. Temperatures dip back to around 6C or 7C but will feel closer to 2C in a strengthening south-south-easterly wind. Wind speeds increase through the evening, reaching gusts in the high 30s to low 40s mph by around 7pm to 9pm.
