Nuthall Road resurfacing works start today until September

A new phase of road improvements is set to begin on Nuthall Road in Nottingham from Monday, June 29.

The works will take place on Nuthall Road between Western Boulevard and Aspley Lane, and are expected to continue until Tuesday, September 1.

The scheme includes resurfacing the road, carrying out footway repairs where required, and improving areas around the base of trees where roots have damaged the pavement.

Nottingham City Council says the work will be carried out in phases, with some weekend working. The hours of work will vary depending on the part of the scheme being carried out and the impact on the road network.

The inbound carriageway refers to traffic travelling from Western Boulevard towards Aspley Lane, while the outbound carriageway refers to traffic travelling from Aspley Lane towards Western Boulevard.

During all phases of the works, traffic restrictions will only be in operation during working hours. A pedestrian route will be maintained at all times, and crossings will remain in use.

Haslemere Road and Homefield Road will be closed at their junctions with Nuthall Road during the hours of work. Residents living on cul-de-sacs off Nuthall Road may also face restricted turning movements during different phases of the scheme.

Access to businesses will be maintained throughout the works, but there will be no parking, loading or unloading on Nuthall Road while restrictions are in place.

Buses that usually use Nuthall Road will follow diversion routes during working hours. Bin collections will continue on the usual collection day, but residents are being asked to ensure bins are available before 7am.

The first phase of the scheme will run from Monday, June 29, to Friday, August 7. Civils works will be carried out using lane one closures, meaning the inside left lane, on both sides of Nuthall Road.

On the inbound side, the lane closures will be in place from 9.30am to 5.30pm. On the outbound side, closures will operate from 7.30am to 4pm.

During this phase, drivers will still be able to travel both into and out of the city on Nuthall Road, using lane two only. Footway resurfacing will also begin, with localised pavement closures in place.

On Sunday, August 9, from 8am to 5pm, carriageway resurfacing will require the closure of the inbound carriageway on Nuthall Road. This will allow resurfacing outside McDonald’s and on the approach to the junction with Aspley Lane. A signed diversion route will be in place.

Further inbound carriageway resurfacing will then take place from Monday, August 10, to Monday, August 17, between 9.30am and 5.30pm. During this period, the inbound carriageway will be closed during working hours, with a signed diversion route operating.

The final programmed phase will run from Tuesday, August 18, to Tuesday, September 1. This will involve carriageway resurfacing on the outbound side of Nuthall Road, with the outbound carriageway closed from 7.30am to 4pm during working hours. A signed diversion route will be in operation.

Further phases of the project still need to be programmed. These include improvement works around the base of trees where roots have damaged the footway, and the installation of tactile paving at crossing points.

These additional works are expected to be carried out under lane one closures.
