Off-road bike seized by Clifton neighbourhood policing team

The Clifton Neighbourhood Policing Team have seized yet another off-road bike.

The yellow pitbike was seized in Clifton Woods on 18 October after being spotted riding along the busy Bridleway which was being used by dog walkers and families.

A 38 year-old man who was using the vehicle whilst being disqualified, had been reported driving offences and he had his bike seized.

The move comes after a clampdown on off-road bikes in the area following a serious collision in 11 October.

A number of motorcycles travelled past a stationary tram in Southchurch Drive, Clifton, at around 4.30pm.

The bikes overtook the tram on both sides, one which collided with a 71-year-old man on the near side as he was crossing in front of it. The motorcyclist then crashed into a bollard.

The pedestrian remains at Queen’s Medical Centre after fracturing his skull and his injuries have been described as life-altering. The bike rider, aged 23, has also had surgery and remains in a serious condition.

Due to the serious nature of the incident, trams and buses were stopped in the area and the road was closed.

Local neighbourhood and Operation Reacher officers have been supporting the investigation and are involved on an ongoing basis in tackling anti-social riding on the Clifton estate.

Neighbourhood Inspector James Walker said: “We’ve had a number of calls from the local community in relation to a group of people riding off-road motorbikes across the Clifton estate and causing ongoing antisocial behaviour and dangerous riding.

“Our officers are committed to tackling this issue, because it is unacceptable for local residents to have to put up with not only the disturbance but the danger it causes.

“We are asking the local community to help us put a stop to the problem and report incidents and, where they can, let us know who is responsible.”

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has information about any of the people pictured, is urged to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 507 of 11 October 2020. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
