Offender jailed after breaching McDonald’s banning order

A persistent criminal has been jailed after breaching a court order banning him from a fast food restaurant.

Leigham Myers, aged 36, was made the subject of a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) in March 2023 after a successful police application to Nottingham Magistrates’ Court.

The order, granted for a period of five years, prevents him from entering a number of named businesses in Clifton, including McDonald’s in Clifton Lane.

Officers were called to the street around 5.20pm on 19 November 2024 when Myers assaulted a girl by grabbing her by the arm after she left the restaurant.

When Myers was arrested for the offence he admitted breaching the CBO in police interviews.

Myers pleaded guilty to both the breach and the assault, and was jailed for 10 months when he appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday (4 April).

Patrols by uniformed officers take place regularly around hotspots for retail crime in this area to provide reassurance to both staff and shoppers.

Sergeant Simon Reid, of the city south neighbourhood policing team, said:

“Criminal behaviour orders are an effective way to manage the behaviour of persistent offenders and also to protect local businesses and shopworkers from harm.

“Myers’ order is a lengthy one which was put in place for five years. This breach has now seen him returned to prison, which I hope gives shop staff some further respite from his offending.

“As we work to target prolific shoplifters across the area, we will be seeking to secure more of these orders in the weeks and months ahead.”
