PCC praises bravery of police officer shot while on duty in Nottingham

Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner Gary Godden has praised the bravery of a police officer who suffered a gunshot wound.

The officer had approached two suspects in Angel Row, Nottingham city centre, shortly before the incident at 4.50am this morning (Sunday 18 October).

He is currently being treated in hospital for a wound to his foot.

Two suspects, a man and a woman, fled the scene and remain outstanding.

A firearm has been recovered, and a large scene is currently in place.

PCC Godden said: “Thankfully firearms incidents like this are extremely rare, which is why it is so shocking.

“My thoughts are with the officer involved, whose bravery is a credit to the force and I know detectives are working incredibly hard to progress the investigation and find those responsible.

“The incident illustrates the bravery and public service that our police officers embody every time they pull on the uniform in the name of public safety.

“I would also like to thank members of the public who helped the police officer at the scene.

“I would urge anyone with information, no matter how small, and especially anyone with mobile phone, dashcam or CCTV footage of the incident to get in touch with the police.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101 quoting incident 106 of 18 October 2026.
