East Midlands Railway announced the incident at 10:44 am on Sunday 1 September 2024.
East Midlands Railway said:
‘We are sad to report that a person has been hit by a train.
‘This has occurred between East Midlands Parkway and Derby and is disrupting our trains on the London St Pancras/Nottingham/Sheffield and Nottingham/Derby/Matlock routes.
.Emergency services are en-route to manage the incident. We do not have an estimated time that the team are due to arrive on site.’
‘Trains running through the area between East Midlands Parkway and Derby in both directions cannot run on our Intercity route.
‘Trains running through the area between Derby and Nottingham in both directions on our Nottingham/Derby/Matlock route cannot run.
‘At present we are expecting the line to re-open in the next 4 hours. As soon as the line is open again, our priority will be to get trains running to their advertised times again. We expect our advertised timetable to resume on the affected routes by 14:50.’
