The A1M is closed northbound between J34 Blyth and J35 Wadworth J35 due to a lorry fire.
Incident Friday 5 April – this update 3 pm.
Emergency services, including South Yorkshire Fire/Rescue are in attendance.
The lorry’s load keeps re-igniting. All traffic caught within the closure has now been released to pass the scene of this incident.
Resurfacing of the carriageway will probably be required.
Traffic is diverted:-
Northbound – follow the hollow circle symbol.
Exit the A1M at J34 and take the A614 towards Bawtry.
At Bawtry, turn left on to the A638.
After approx. 3 miles turn right on to High Common Lane.
At the next roundabout, take the 2nd exit on to the A614.
Travel on the A614 for around 15 miles, then turn right on to the A18.
Take the exit for the M180 westbound, then exit on to the M18 travelling southbound.
Travel on the M18 and rejoin the A1M northbound at Wadworth Viaduct.
Delays are likely on the approach to this closure, with additional journey times also expected on diversion routes.
