Volunteers from the Memorial Gardens Association based in The Meadows have set up the beautiful space in the recently much-improved memorial park.
Memorial Gardens Association ( MeGA ) is a free membership organization that was formed in 2018 to protect and promote the use of the memorial gardens on Victoria Embankment.
They work with Nottingham City Council and other local organisations to improve the gardens and make sure they can be enjoyed by everyone.
A new initiative is the Wildlife Garden, it’s been newly planted with a hundreds of plants and flowers, there’s a small pond, ( there’s a safety gate at the entrance to the gardens ) a herb garden, a shad-loving plants area, a wild area and composting bins and information signs.
At this time of year things are beginning to grow – and as time goes on the site will become more mature and impressive.
Last year the Queen Victoria statue was completely cleaned and refurbished, the park as had new paths laid, and the fountains and pond have been refurbished and recommissioned too.
MeGA is always looking for help and you can join in by volunteering too, just pop along any Monday morning between 09:30 and 11:30 am to meet the team.
