Plain-clothed police tackle drug dealing in Eastwood alleyway

A suspected drug dealer was arrested after plain-clothed and uniformed officers teamed up to detain a group of men in an Eastwood alleyway.

Officers from the Beeston and Eastwood neighbourhood policing teams were responding to concerns about criminal activity in the South Street and Bailey Grove Road area.

Plain-clothed officers arrived at the scene around 10:30 AM on Thursday and quickly observed a group of men engaged in a suspected drug deal. Uniformed colleagues were then called in to block their escape routes.

A significant quantity of suspected crack cocaine was recovered, and a 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing Class A drugs with intent to supply.

Another man, who initially provided false details, was later found to be wanted for offences in another police jurisdiction and was remanded into custody.

Sergeant Andrew Foulds of Nottinghamshire Police commented:

“Plain-clothed operations are a good way for us to patrol an area and look out for criminal activity.

“A number of local residents had raised concerns about this particular area, and it didn’t take long for us to find what we were looking for.

“As these individuals have just discovered, just because you can’t see us doesn’t mean we aren’t there working to keep our communities safe.”
