Via East Midlands Ltd, working on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council, is proposing to introduce a 40mph speed limit on the A6011 Radcliffe Road between the A52 Gamston roundabout and the existing 40mph speed limit.
The new speed limit would replace the existing National Speed Limit of 70mph.
The proposed speed limit is part of a series of measures being introduced by Highways England as part of their scheme to improve safety, remove the risk of vehicle collisions and help reduce queueing and delays for drivers using the Gamston roundabout.
The introduction of 40mph speed limits on the approaches to and on the roundabout will help improve safety for road users on the new signalised roundabout and also pedestrians and cyclists who will be using the new crossing facilities which are being constructed as part of the new scheme.
Detail of the proposals:
A6011 Radcliffe Road, Gamston in the Borough of Rushcliffe
40 mph speed limit – From a point 137 metres west of the centre line of its junction with the Old Tollerton Road in an easterly direction to its junction with the A52 Gamston Lings Bar Road (outer perimeter of the roundabout).
Notice will be posted in the local area.
Senior Improvements Officer for Via East Midlands, Jeff Burton said:
‘Before proceeding further with the proposed 40mph speed limit, I wish to consider the views of residents and organisations who may be interested in this matter.
‘If your comments are in the form of an objection to the proposals and if they cannot be resolved, they will be reported through the County Council’s procedures at the appropriate time. Any observations on these proposals should reach me by 5th August 2021.’
