A former Dunkin’ Donuts store in Nottingham could become a Taco Bell under new plans.
The Alfreton Road store was the American multi-national fast food chain’s first ever East Midlands site, but closed earlier this year after opening in 2021.
Now, plans have been submitted for a Taco Bell to open in the vacant site.
The applicant says Taco Bell already has two existing premises in Nottingham city centre, one in the Victoria Centre and the other in Angel Row.
It says having another restaurant in the city centre “would not be economically viable given both existing premises already serve a similar catchment area”, giving rise for a need in the suburbs.
A planning statement says: “The site is currently vacant but was most recently – and lawfully – in use as a coffee shop operated by Dunkin’ [Donuts], prior to its closure earlier this year.
“The proposed trading hours of the mixed restaurant and hot food takeaway use are 10:30 to 02:00 each day of the week, with the intended operator being Taco Bell, with 48 internal covers proposed.
“Servicing would only take place between the hours of 06:00 and 23:00 each day of the week, reflecting the consented servicing hours for the most recent/lawful coffee shop use.”
Planning documents confirm the restaurant will be walk-in only, and no drive-through will be created.
Nottingham City Council will now consider the plans.
