Anti-social behaviour and aggressive begging around a Hyson Green supermarket have significantly dropped by more than 70 per cent.
Residents and shoppers raised significant concerns around Asda supermarket in Radford Road, including aggressive begging, anti-social behaviour and experiencing feelings of unsafety.
Nottinghamshire Police, working in partnership with Asda supermarket, launched an operation in April 2024 to tackle the problems facing the area.
Officers have used a series of tactics to clear the area of crime and disorder including targeted patrols, offering support to the most vulnerable and enforcement action.
New figures have now shown that reported incidents of aggressive begging on the Asda forecourt have fallen by more than 80 per cent over the three-year period.
Anti-social behaviour has also fallen by more than 70 per cent.
Between April 2025 to March 2026, there were 39 incidents of anti-social behaviour at the supermarket compared to 287 incidents reported in April 2023 to March 2024.
For aggressive begging, only 47 incidents were reported between April 2025 to March 2026 compared to the 282 incidents reported in April 2023 to March 2024.
PC Brendan Farrell, who works in the Radford Neighbourhood Policing Team, said:
“These figures are a fantastic representation of the hard work our officers and partners have put into this community.
“We understand the impact that anti-social behaviour and aggressive begging can have on our communities, and through old school policing like patrolling the streets, offering assistance and advice, and carrying out enforcement action, we have made real progress here.
“We know that there is still more work to be done, and through these preventative actions, we will continue to deter criminals and those causing problems from coming into the area.”
It comes as Operation Arriving continues across the Radford area following a spike in burglary, robbery and vehicle offences.
Since the operation began, officers have arrested more than 100 people, with crime falling 20.2 per cent in July compared to the previous month.
