Police seized one vehicle on the same day the driver had collected it.
Police in Gedling said:
‘Due to the ongoing complaints that residents in the area have been making, last weekend a joint operation between Operation Reacher, Carlton NPT and Roads Policing teams targeted car cruises along with those who are using the roads as a racetrack and are a danger to others.
‘A large number of marked police vehicles were deployed to the area which saw a reduced amount of anti-social driving.
‘No new calls were made to the police, however, with us proactively patrolling we still managed to catch a few motorists doing things they shouldn’t be.
‘Numerous Section 59 warning notices were given to drivers over the course of the weekend, we would suggest that if you are given a Section 59 Warning notice you take this seriously, as one driver this weekend failed to listen to officers’ warnings and was caught twice in the space of 12 minutes by separate officers thinking he could use the public roadways as his personal racetrack – which unfortunately for him resulted in his car being seized the very same day he collected it.’
A section 59 warning is issued in the specific circumstances where vehicles are found to have been used to cause distress, alarm or annoyance or used in an anti-social manner.
