A suspected burglar was located by a drone pilot before wisely giving himself up when confronted by a police dog.
Officers were called to a construction site in Hardwick Lane, Sutton-in-Ashfield, shortly before 4.45am on Wednesday 4 March after an intruder was reported.
PD Russo was released to search the site and gave a strong indication that someone was nearby on the adjoining land.
A heat source matching a human figure was soon identified from the air, and the dog handler was guided towards the suspect, who promptly surrendered.
A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary, criminal damage, and being found on enclosed premises.
Sergeant Vince Saunders, chief drone pilot at Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“This was one of many times a dog and drone have successfully combined in this way.
“Working together, they make a formidable team and are able to locate suspects across very wide areas.”
