Police increase patrols after incidents at Nottingham school and recreation ground

Nottinghamshire Police has increased patrols at the Forest Recreation Ground after a woman was grabbed by an unknown man.

The incident happened on Wednesday 9 July at around 1.35pm.

The victim, in her 20s, was walking through the park in the direction of Gregory Boulevard when she noticed a man walking behind her.

His presence made her feel uncomfortable, and when she stopped at the junction of Gregory Boulevard by the roundabout, he grabbed hold of her arm.

She managed to break free and start to run, but he continued to follow her. He then left the scene.

A team of detectives are carrying out a thorough investigation to locate the man responsible, who has been described as a Black male, mid-20s, average height and build.

He has a short hair style and was wearing a navy-blue plain t-shirt, dark grey or black joggers and trainers.

Detectives are currently linking the suspect to another incident near Bluecoat Trent Academy in Pelham Road on Thursday 3 July at around 1pm.

A teacher noticed a man matching the same description acting suspiciously outside the school grounds and contacted the police. No pupils were outside at the time.

There will be an increased police presence at the Forest Recreation Park and around Bluecoat Trent Academy while an investigation takes place.

This includes the police’s CCTV van, which has the capability of covering large areas of the park.

Chief Inspector Mike Ebbins said:

“This must have been a terrifying ordeal for the victim who is being supported by our officers.

“We know this incident is likely to cause alarm and distress to members of the community, but we are doing everything we can to track down the person involved.

“There will be an increased police presence in the park as our investigation continues.

“We are also encouraging the public to please get in touch with us with any information they may have.

“This includes anyone who may have seen this man or been approached by him or may know who he is through the description provided.

“Did you also see someone who matches this description acting suspiciously in the park that day or in other parts of the city? Any information, no matter how small, could be vital to our investigation.”

Anyone with information can call 101 quoting incident number 0365 of the 9th July 2025 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
