Police name Nottingham murder victim as stabbing investigation continues

The victim of a fatal stabbing has today been named as 42-year-old Darren Davis – while detectives have also been granted a court extension to continue questioning a suspect.

Mr Davis died in hospital after being stabbed in the vicinity of Radford Boulevard, near the junction with Ruskin Street, at around 3.45pm on Wednesday (10 August 2022).

Detectives have been working tirelessly on the investigation and have now been granted extra time to question a 31-year-old man previously arrested on suspicion of murder.

Officers continue to pursue several lines of enquiry including checking CCTV, conducting door-to-door enquiries and obtaining witness accounts and other evidence.

Uniformed patrols have also been stepped up in the area to provide public reassurance.

Mr Davis’ family continue to be supported by specially-trained officers as the investigation progresses.

In a statement, partner Kathryn McFadden, said: “I can’t believe that you’re not here anymore. We were together for 17 years that were filled with highs and lows, but the love was always there and always will be.

“Everyone knew Kat and Daz, it was us against the world. You may not be here for me to see but I can still feel you around me.

“Your sons know that you love them more than anything and they love you back just as much.

“We all miss you and wish with everything we have that you were still here with us.

“You were such a character who everyone knew, and you had a heart of gold. Thanks for the last 17 years and for giving me our two sons.

“Always and forever babe until we meet again. It’s not a goodbye, it’s a see you later.”

Mr Davis’ mother Kathryn Davis added: “The pain I’m feeling at this moment in time is beyond any pain I’ve ever felt.

“Darren was a kind and caring man with a big heart who would be there for anyone who was in need.

“He was always happy and laughing; making a joke of everything to make everyone happy and never taking life too seriously. He was a family man, who was adored by his daughter and two sons.

“You have been taken away far too soon, son. I truly wish I could take your place. Until we meet again, party hard with the angels, son. You deserve to be at peace now.

“Keep looking over us. Love and miss you beyond words.”

Detective Inspector Melanie Crutchley, who is leading the investigation, said: “Our thoughts are very much with Mr Davis’ family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.

“I want to reassure them a team of highly-skilled detectives is working incredibly hard to establish the circumstances of this tragic incident and to get them justice.

“Mr Davis was attacked in broad daylight so I am again urging anyone who was in the area around the time, who saw what happened or anything suspicious, to please get in touch with us as soon as possible,

“The enquiry team would also like to hear from anyone who may have recorded CCTV, mobile phone, dash-cam or doorbell-cam footage regarding the incident. Any piece of information that people can give us, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem, could be vital in helping us with our ongoing investigation.”
