PC Aodan O’Neill, aged 27, who is based at Lincoln, was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court today (19 March 2026) having previously pleaded guilty to an offence of driving dangerously.
He was sentenced to a community order of carrying out 150 hours of unpaid work. He was also banned from driving for 12 months, starting at the date of his interim ban on 14 January 2026.
Police said:
‘The court heard that PC Aodan O’Neill drove a marked police car along Broadgate, Lincoln, just before 1.45pm, on 4 November 2024, when the car he was driving collided with a man who was crossing the road on a pedestrian crossing.
‘The man was not seriously injured. PC O’Neill was travelling to an emergency incident with emergency blue lights and sirens activated.
‘As a consequence, we will now consider internal misconduct procedures.
‘PC O’Neill is covering non-operational duties. ‘
