Knife crime officers chased down three suspects before seizing weapons and dozens of drug wraps.
The specialist team was out on patrol in St Ann’s when they spotted some suspicious behaviour down an alleyway.
Believing a drug deal could be taking place, officers approached three people in Botany Avenue, all of whom responded by running away.
None of the trio got far, however, before the knife crime team, trailing closely behind, found and detained them in a garden in Blundell Close.
Following that brief chase, which happened around 3.35 pm on Thursday (6 February), the officers dispersed to conduct a search of the nearby area.
A discarded rucksack was quickly discovered in an adjacent garden, which, when searched, was found to contain a hunting knife and around 70 wraps of suspected heroin.
While this was going on, a zombie-style knife in a sheath was also recovered by officers outside another property in the vicinity.
Multiple burner-style phones, as well as weighing scales, were also discovered.
Three men, aged 18, 18, and 19, were all subsequently arrested on suspicion of possessing a knife and possessing with intent to supply Class A drugs.
Detective Chief Inspector Claire Gould, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“The officers involved in this triple arrest did a great job in first spotting something that didn’t look right and then acting on these suspicions.
“Their actions ultimately resulted in us being able to take two dangerous bladed weapons off the streets while also seizing bags of Class A drugs.
“The knife crime team’s remit when they go out on their patrols is to target potential weapon carriers and take knives and drugs out of harm’s way, so this proved to be a very successful stop for them.”
