A man has been arrested after a rapid police response to a street disturbance.
Armed officers were called to Beckhampton Road, Bestwood, Nottingham at approximately 6pm last night (Sunday 8 September) following reports of a group of males threatening one another, with a machete seen.
Following inquiries, a 21-year-old man was arrested at a property in Crawford Avenue, Stapleford, on suspicion of affray a short time after the incident.
He remains in custody for questioning.
Detective Sergeant Hannah Frame, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“This type of behaviour can be extremely frightening for those who witness it and it is completely unacceptable.
“Our job is to make the public feel safe and reduce any risk as soon as possible, and this is a great example where officers were on scene within minutes of this being reported to us.
“Not only this, but a suspect was quickly arrested in relation to the incident.
“Our investigation is ongoing and we would ask anyone who saw the incident, or has any CCTV or dash cam footage, to get in touch on 101, quoting incident 492 of 8 September 2024.”
