Patrols have been increased and detectives are investigating after an altercation near a Nottingham school.
Police were called to Hillington Rise, Bestwood, following reports two men carrying knives were chasing another man.
The victim, a man aged in his 20s, was located and found to be unharmed following the incident around 3pm on Friday (30 January) close to Glade Hill Primary and Nursery School.
The investigation has been assigned to a team of detectives who are analysing CCTV and making other inquiries to trace those responsible.
Officers also want to speak to any witnesses who have not yet given an account, as well as anyone with relevant footage of the moments before, during and after the incident.
A 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving while disqualified in relation to the incident.
Detective Inspector Lisa Jones, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“Thankfully no one was injured and we believe it is likely the victim and attackers are known to each other.
“We also do not believe there was any wider risk to members of the public who were in the area.
“However, we know the incident was witnessed by a number of people as it occurred close to a school at a busy time.
“I’d like to reassure anyone who was impacted that we are working hard to identify those responsible for this appalling behaviour and patrols have been stepped up over the weekend and into next week.
“We’d also like to hear from those witnesses so we can gather as much information as we can as our inquiries continue.”
Anyone who can assist should call 101, quoting incident 445 of 30 January 2026, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
