Police statement after several seriously injured in Nottingham collision – two in hospital with life-changing injuries

Roads remain closed in the city following a multi-vehicle crash.

The incident happened on Nuthall Road, junction of Western Boulevard, Broxtowe today at 12.36pm (9 December).

Officers are currently in attendance at an eight-vehicle collision.

A man and a woman have been taken to hospital with what are currently believed to be life-altering and life-threatening injuries.

Other individuals involved in the crash have suffered a range of serious injuries.

Bobbers Mill Road, Aspley Lane, Hazle Mill Road, Nuthall Road and the Western Boulevard junction are expected to remain closed in both directions for the foreseeable future.

A 34-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

Motorists are advised to avoid surrounding areas to minimise congestion.

Chief Inspector Craig Berry, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“We appreciate the public’s patience as we continue to deal with this serious incident and work to understand what happened.

“We’re aware of a video that has been circulated online related to one of the casualties following this collision.

“Please do not share this footage out of respect for the man’s family and report it to the relevant social media platform to prevent further circulation.”
