The Black Pearl bar on Bridgford Road was a popular venue and dancefloor.
The bar was opened in February 2020 by local entrepreneurs Drew Hewitt and Daniel Brown, just weeks before the first lockdown.
It was billed as West Bridgford’s last remaining dancefloor.
The bar was well-known locally for good food and regular live music.
Drew Hewitt told The Wire:
‘The Black Pearl was always a short-term project, we had a good run with it but it’s a real shame that it’s finally over – we did end up on a high though.’
‘I think the West Bridgford nightlife will miss us as there’s not much choice now in the area for late night opening bars.
‘Having Forest go from strength to strength last year and then in the Premiership this year helped and has been great fun.’
‘Part of the problem is that landlords are raising their charges and I think this could be the death of independents.’
‘Mostly I want to thank Kat and all the amazing staff and loyal customers who have visited us again and again over the years.’
The news comes as a number of independent businesses in West Bridgford have closed down bricks and mortar stores in the past few weeks, Connaught House gift shop, The Health Store, Locally Produced For You, Hopology and The Black Pearl.
