Poundland does the treble on Saturday 29 August as Britain’s favourite discount retailer pushes ahead with its transformation by opening three new stores in one day.
It is moving into a larger store at Telford in Shropshire and opening new stores in Bulwell, Nottinghamshire, and Banbury, Oxfordshire.
Each of the stores will feature a PEP&CO shop-in-shop offering family fashion and the new stylish PEP&CO Home range, including towels, cushions, throws and ornaments, which was launched this week.
The new openings come just weeks after Poundland announced the biggest transformation programme in its history, including refreshing and refurbishing stores expanding into new categories.
The new store at the popular Bulwell Springfield Retail Park will offer a full range of PEP&CO clothes and homeware.
The 7,500 sq ft store will complement the existing store at Main Street, Bulwell, and will employ 24 colleagues. The previous tenant was Brantano shoes.
It has also been added to the list of stores to get the full range of chilled and frozen food as part of Project Diamond which will have seen more than 60 stores converted by September. Popular items at converted stores include brands such as Ginsters, Cathedral City, Lurpak, Birds Eye, McCain and Young’s.
Each of the stores has been designed to offer shoppers the widest range possible of groceries, household goods, health and beauty and a PEP&CO shop-in-shop.
The investment is a vote of confidence in each of the locations and part of Poundland’s commitment to bring its value offer to more customers by opening in new towns or expanding in existing towns.
Poundland retail director Austin Cooke said: “It’s great to be able to open three stores on one day and on a bank holiday weekend too when customers can browse our PEP&CO shop-in-shops.
“We love Telford and are delighted to be a part of the town’s future by moving into a bigger store so we can offer our customers even more choice.
“We’re very excited to be opening in Bulwell and especially because the new store will include our full chilled and frozen food range which has got a sizzling reception at the stores that have got it so far.
“The mezzanine level at our new Banbury store is perfect for our PEP&CO shop-in-shop and it will fill a gap in the market for clothing and homeware.”
Around 300 stores now have a PEP&CO shop-in-shop offering a range of kidswear and clothes for mum and dad. Prices start at £1 and 95 per cent of the range is under £10.
