Puppy stolen in Nottingham burglary – arrests made in connection with the incident

Officers arrived at the scene to reports that the people inside the house had been threatened and a puppy had been stolen.

Three people have been arrested on suspicion of burglary and handling stolen goods after a dog was stolen.

Police were called to Vickers Street, Nottingham at around 12 am on 11 May 2021 after receiving reports of a suspected burglary.

Officers arrived at the scene to reports that the people inside the house had been threatened and a puppy had been stolen.

Two men aged 19 and 25-years old were arrested yesterday (23 August 2021) on suspicion of burglary.

A 29-year-old female was also arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods.

Officers have previously arrested a 17-year-old man on suspicion of burglary relating to the same incident.

They were all taken to custody and bailed pending further enquiries.

Another male was also interviewed under caution.

The arrests come as the force recently appointed a specialist lead in dog theft in order to take a strategic overview of dog thefts in Nottinghamshire, the first appointment of its kind in the country.

Chief Inspector Amy Styles-Jones performs the role alongside a number of other duties and responsibilities within the force including working with officers and other forces to establish best practices in investigating this type of crime.

Chief Inspector Styles-Jones said: “I understand how concerning dog theft is for people and as a dog owner myself I know it is a very sensitive issue and that we all want to feel safe out walking our dogs and at home with our pets.

“I want to reassure people that if you want to report any concerns about your dog’s being stolen we will take that seriously.

“These arrests show that we are taking a stance on this issue and makes it clear to anybody involved in dog theft or the mistreatment of animals that it will not be tolerated in Nottinghamshire.”
