A train has hit an obstruction on the line.
East Midlands Railway said at 3:39 pm on Friday 20 June:
‘This is between Nottingham and East Midlands Parkway and is disrupting our trains on the London St Pancras/Nottingham/Sheffield route, Matlock/Derby/Nottingham route, Newark Castle/Derby/Crewe route and our Leicester/Nottingham/Lincoln/Grimsby route.
‘The damage caused by the train hitting the obstruction is currently being investigated. A technician has arrived on site and is working on the train.’
‘Trains running through the area in both directions are subject to delay and last minute alterations.
‘At present we are expecting the problem to be fixed in the next 2 hours. As soon as the problem is fixed our priority will be to get trains running to their advertised times again. We expect our advertised timetable to resume on the affected routes by 1730.’
