Road closures announced for Nottingham 10K event

Participants of all abilities and ages will be heading to the city on Sunday 9 March for one of the region’s biggest and best-loved charity road runs, the Nottingham 10K.

The event is expected to raise tens of thousands of pounds for a number of good causes including the event’s official partner charities; Base 51, Framework, the Jane Tomlinson Appeal, Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance, Maggies Nottingham, Mansfield Cat Rescue, Mind Nottinghamshire, Radford Care Group, Stand Against MND and Trent Bridge Community Trust.

Organised by Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All, the UK’s largest not for profit events company, are now informing runners, spectators, residents, businesses and visitors that a number of road closures and restrictions will be in place to ensure the safety of all those taking part.

The 10K race starts in the heart of the city centre at 09:00. Beginning at Old Market Square, runners will head north of the city centre, along Mansfield Road before reaching Nottingham Girls High School.

The route will then take participants along Forest Road East and through Forest Recreation Ground before travelling south towards to the City Centre. Motorpoint Nottingham Arena will be a noticeable landmark on the course, before runners make their way through the Victorian residential area of Nottingham Park Estate and reach the historic finish line in the grounds of Nottingham Castle.

The event will require the closure of roads and road junctions as well as the suspension of a number of Traffic Regulation Orders between 05:00 and 13:00 on Sunday 9th March 2025.

The event will also require a number of parking suspensions from 18:00 on Saturday 8th March 2025 to 11:00 on Sunday 9th March.

Old Market Square will be closed from 05:00 until 11:00 to facilitate the start area build with Lenton Road and Castle Road/Place (Outside Nottingham Castle) closed from 06:00 to 13:00 to facilitate the finish area build.

Roads closed from 08:00 as part of the route will include:  A60 Huntingdon Street, A6005 Castle Boulevard, A6008 Parliament Street, A60 London Road, Addison Street, B684 Woodborough Road, Bluecoat Street, Canal Street, Carrington Street, Chatham Street, Colin Street, Duke William Mount, George Street, Glasshouse Street, King Edward Street, Lenton Road, Lenton Street, Lower Parliament Street, Lincoln Circus, Mansfield Road, Middle Hill, Newcastle Circus, North Sherwood Street, Park Drive, Peel Street, Peveril Drive, South Road, Tattershall Drive and Tunnell Road. These roads will be re-open starting from 09:30 with the final closure re-open for 11:15; roads will be re-open on a rolling basis.

All road closures will be lifted as soon as the safety of runners, spectators and visitors can be assured.

“We will work extremely hard to ensure that the road closures are lifted as soon as possible and thank you for your patience and cooperation.”
