Five people have been arrested after neighbourhood police found a stolen power generator in the back of a van.
Officers were called to a building site in Green Lane, Clifton, around 1.30am on Sunday after intruders were spotted by a member of the public.
It was reported a generator, lights, tools, batteries and chargers were missing.
A number of stolen items were recovered nearby and further investigations were then carried out by the city south neighbourhood policing team.
A van was pulled over in Clifton around 2pm the same day and a large generator was discovered by officers in the rear of the vehicle.
One man found inside the van was detained and inquiries led to the arrest of a woman and two other men later that day.
A further suspect was arrested on Monday (10 February).
Four men, aged 32, 35, 36 and 39, have been arrested on suspicion of burglary. The 35 and 36-year-olds have been further held on suspicion of handling stolen goods.
The 39-year-old man was further detained on suspicion of driving while disqualified and driving without insurance.
A 45-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods.
Inspector Steve Dalby, neighbourhood policing inspector for city south, said:
“Officers worked quickly to recover a number of stolen items and arrest these suspects.
“Construction sites and buildings under renovation can be tempting targets for thieves.
“We would urge building companies and people carrying out work on their own homes or businesses to make sure sites are as secure as possible.
