A woman was allegedly spat at and a man left injured as a fight broke out in a street.
It is reported that a man spat at a woman during an argument over dog fouling, which then led to a fight between two men.
Two dogs then allegedly broke free from their handler and one bit the victim on the nose as the two men were fighting.
He received stitches after being taken to hospital for treatment, where he remains whilst the full extent of his injuries are determined.
The dogs have been moved away and are being cared for at another address.
A 36-year-old man from Chilwell has been charged with two counts of assault.
Officers continue their investigation into the incident in Great Hoggett Drive, Chilwell, at around 7.45pm on Thursday (19 August 2021).
Detective Inspector Nick Hall, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “A man and woman have been left shocked, and the man injured, after this reported assault and we are committed to our investigation and understanding the circumstances around what happened.
“We must stress and reassure people that the dogs are not classed as a dangerous breed and we believe the alleged bite was simply a reaction to the reported fight.
“We have now charged a man in connection with the assaults and officers continue their enquiries.
“We would urge anyone who witnessed the incident or has further information to get in touch on 101, quoting incident 731 of 19 August 2021.”
